Hi, I'm Alicia
Searching for a psychologist can be overwhelming. You need someone who listens and really hears what you’re saying. Someone who is supportive no matter what kind of situation or problem that you’re struggling with. I am here and can give you strategies to help you manage that have been proven by scientific studies to be effective.
Alicia's ready to help you improve your mental health.
Academic Credentials
Alicia completed at Bachelor of Psychology in 2007 with a minor in Child Development, a Master of Applied Clinical Psychology in 2010 and is currently registered as a Clinical Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Alicia has trained in several evidence based therapeutic approaches including: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Psychotherapy, Schema Therapy and EMDR.
The type of therapy suitable for a person depends on the individual and the types of problems that they are presenting with. For example, there is evidence that trauma is best treated by CBT and EMDR so Alicia may choose that approach for someone who has had a car accident.
Alicia is happy to discuss types of therapy with you at your first appointment where we make a plan for our work together based on your needs

Family of origin issues
As a child did you experience feeling different to others growing up, family domestic violence, emotional abuse, were you criticised or bullied, did you experience low self worth, were your emotions dismissed or ignored by those around you or maybe you experienced a traumatic event of some kind?
These are just some of the many circumstances which are cast on us as children and still affect us years or decades later. Sometimes we aren’t even sure what it was or what to label it as, but we grow up with a sense that something wasn’t right. By working through our past we are able to gain insight to our situation and identify current triggers and reactions that are related to this. Healing from our past can help us change our future
