Hi, I'm Amanda 👋

I am a friendly mature aged clinical psychologist (in her middle years) who enjoys seeing a range of adults with various concerns and clinical presentations. I take a thorough approach to exploring issues, keep a commitment to striving for change, and endeavour to use best evidence-based therapy.

 

I have been told that I have a natural warmth, a genuine compassionate manner, and an ability to challenge clients respectfully, always with the goal of achieving the short and long-term outcomes that are desired.

Academic Credentials

Amanda has completed a Master of Psychology (Clinical) and has gained board approved endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist.

She is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is a fellow of the Australian Psychological Society College of Clinical Psychologists.

Amanda primarily uses a Cognitive Behaviour Therapy approach and incorporates elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness practices. She also delivers Prolonged Exposure Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy which are usually very effective in helping clients work through traumatic memories in a safe environment so that re-experiencing of the event/s becomes less distressing and/or dysfunctional.

Counselling Experience

Amanda has experience in and enjoys helping clients to address the following concerns; adjustment difficulties, anxiety and panic attacks, anger issues, assertiveness issues, attachment issues, bipolar disorder, confidence issues, coping with chronic illness, dealing with conflict, delusions and psychosis, depression, end of life issues, grief and loss, obsessive compulsive disorder, perfectionism, personality disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder and other traumatic reactions, procrastination, self-esteem issues, separation/divorce difficulties, social anxiety/social skill deficits, stress, self-harming behavior, and suicidal thinking.
