Hi, I'm Kate
The reason you’ve come here today is to change something that’s no longer working for you. My commitment is to be your “expert companion” working together with you to make this change happen.
I have been working with people from many different walks of life, struggling to make many different changes in their lives, for over 40 years. So I have a bit of experience under my belt! I’m confident that together we can get you onto the path you want and create change that is sustainable and meaningful.
Some of the core principles that I weave into my work include positivity and authenticity. Whatever changes you are aiming for have to “fit” for you, they have to feel natural and be an improvement on the current you. I’m also deeply committed to working from a “brain repair” perspective – we all have life experiences that leave their footprint on the way our brains work, and the greatest discovery of the last century was that the brain is repairable using the power of the mind.
As your Psychologist, I will give you the tools to use your mind to repair your brain so your life is the very best it can be. You can feel better, recover quicker from setbacks, face every day with enthusiasm and purpose, enjoy rich and satisfying relationships, savour the daily wins whilst also earning valuable lessons from life’s adversities.
Kate's ready to help you improve your mental health.
Kate completed a Bachelor of Science (Applied Psychology) that included a year working in a university clinic gaining hands-on experience. She then worked for several years with children in special education centres, whilst also supporting their families. This led to branching out into the area of Social Ecology, the study of people within their social environments. During this time she completed specialised training in family therapy. Further along the career pathway, Kate completed several postgraduate diplomas and a Masters in Applied Science (Social Ecology) whilst working in the corporate world setting up innovative health promotion services in regional NSW.
Later she took up a Team Leader position supporting small rural children’s health teams across Queensland before relocating to Brisbane where she completed her doctorate and postdoctoral research with culturally diverse communities. She has also taught a range of Psychology courses in several universities in NSW and QLD, and now operates exclusively via telehealth from Norfolk Island, one of Australia’s most remote communities.
Kate’s most recent pursuit has been training as an accredited Neuropsychotherapist using a coaching approach to help people recover from trauma. She is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is a member of several international organisations including the International Association of Applied Neuropsychotherapy (MIAAN), International Positive Psychology Association (IPPA), International Society for Coaching Psychology (ISCP), and International Society for Mental Health Online (ISMHO).
