Margaret Garvin Psychologist

Hi, I'm Margaret 👋

It will be good to meet you. I’d like to assist you in gaining greater insight and confidence to address whatever brings you to counselling. Together we can explore ideas for change and develop interventions that are meaningful and practical. My approach is encouraging, holistic, trauma informed and guided at all times by client preferences.

Over many years I have enjoyed engaging with clients from diverse backgrounds and different age groups. This has demonstrated to me that every individual has unique abilities and talents to overcome challenges and improve life satisfaction, though sometimes circumstances can obscure these.

It is exciting and rewarding to work within a trusting relationship to address life’s obstacles, whether temporary or more complex and pervasive.

Counselling Experience

Margaret has over 25 years’ counselling experience working with individuals, families and groups from very diverse backgrounds and with differing skills and abilities. Clients have included all age groups and she has worked extensively with young people.

Margaret has engaged with clients to address wide ranging presentations, for example issues related to anxiety, depression, grief and loss, stress, relationship difficulties, and life transitions.

While specific diagnoses can be helpful at times, they can also be limiting. Margaret recognises that each person is unique, as are their presenting issues. Hence interventions are tailored to the individual, not the condition.
