Hi, I'm Melisa
Welcome and congratulations on taking this first step – it isn’t always an easy one! I can’t wait to meet you and hear your story. There isn’t a ‘one-size-fits-all’ in therapy, and the connection you have with your therapist is so important. I’m an experienced Counselling Psychologist (in other words, a registered psychologist with additional training in the specialization of Counselling Psychology). I prioritize the therapeutic connection we build with one another, and use this foundation to support you in creating meaningful change in your life.
What might be unique about therapy with me? Well, for one, I am extremely passionate about your brain! Together, we can come to understand how it works, why it functions the way it does, and even shift how its wired. Therapy will be guided by what YOU want to get out of it, and the tools I share with you will be aligned with that.
Melisa's ready to help you improve your mental health.
Melisa has completed a Bachelor of Psychology (Class I Honours), followed by a Master of Applied Psychology (in the field of Counselling Psychology).
She is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). She uses a mix of empirically-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and is particularly passionate about incorporating a Neuropsychotherapy (NPT) framework into therapy.
Melisa has experience working with people from all walks of life, across private practice, public hospital, school and forensic settings.
She has extensive experience working with people experiencing trauma, mood disorders, interpersonal challenges, and personality vulnerabilities. Melisa is particularly passionate about working with adults experiencing PTSD, depression, anxiety, interpersonal challenges and life transitions.
