Hi, I'm Yakira 
Yakira is a naturally warm and empathetic Psychologist who is passionate about helping people to become “unstuck” and find meaning again, and in turn enhance their relationships with themselves and others.
She takes a person-centred approach and uses evidence-based psychological therapies to tailor to the individual needs of each client and improve their psychological wellbeing.
Yakira’s therapeutic style is non-judgemental, and her interventions draw from different modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Narrative Therapy, depending on the unique needs of each individual.
Yakira aims to build a collaborative and trusting relationship with each client to work together to identify unhelpful patterns that may be getting in their way and implement practical coping skills.
With the goal of building on the individual’s unique strengths to make lasting changes, Yakira’s main interests are working with mood disorders (such as anxiety, depression), as well as adjustment issues relating to relationship/family breakdown, low self-esteem, trauma, stress, and grief

Academic Credentials
Yakira completed a Bachelor of Psychological Science with Honours, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology. Yakira is a registered psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Counselling Experience
Yakira has experience working with a diverse range of clients, including adults, adolescents, and couples from a range of different cultures and backgrounds. Yakira has worked in a variety of fields including occupational rehabilitation and employment services.
Yakira has experience working with people who have issues relating to depression, low self-esteem, trauma, stress, anxiety, grief and loss, anger, relationship and family breakdown, abuse, eating disorders, and substance abuse.
