Hi, I’m Alison

I am an open and compassionate Psychologist with 30 years of experience in Community Mental Health. I have worked across Child and Adolescent, Acute Services, forensic services, drug and alcohol, and Police PACER services. My work is grounded in evidence-based interventions with a measured, straightforward approach. I specialise in supporting clients dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, feelings of loneliness and “otherness “ and difficulties with the challenges that life can bring. I like to work collaboratively with clients to gain a shared understanding of their particular difficulties, so we can decide which interventions might suit you best. Whether it be Cognitive Behvioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioual Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, EMDR, or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, we’ll find an intervention that makes sense to you and helps you achieve your treatment goals.

Qualifications

I am a Registered Psychologist with my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from the University of Sydney. I specialise in helping people understand and communicate their experiences of challenges such as trauma, anxiety, depression, OCD, and relationship difficulties. I like to work together with clients so they can develop ways to describe what is going on for them, and to identify the right interventions for them to achieve their treatment goals. Psychology is a dynamic field, and the shifts and changes can leave people feeling confused. I believe its vital for me to be up to date with my education so as to be able to help my clients see how their plans align with this constantly moving landscape. There is no perfect intervention! Just the one that works for you.; 1994 - 1995 Support work with people with HIV/AIDS. Support work in disabilities with people with Prader-Willi Syndrome 1995 - 2000 Provisional and then Registered Psychologist at Dunsmore House Drug and Alcohol Adolescent Residential Assessment and Referral Services Registered Psychologist with Hornsby Child and Family Mental Health Services 2000 - 2026 Psychologist with Blacktown/Mt Druitt Adolescent Community Mental Health Service. Accredited Person (non-medical Clinician that can Schedule people under the Mental Health Act) from 2010-2026 Deputy Director of Community Treatment (Service responsibility for involuntary treatment with the Mental Health Review Tribunal) 2014-2023 PACER (Police, Ambulance, Clinician Emergency Response) Clinician with Blacktown Acute Mental Health Services and Blacktown Police LAC.
