Frequently Asked Questions
Medicare rebates are automatically applied.
We process the rebates on your behalf. As long as you have a valid Medicare card, GP referral and mental health treatment plan and you have not exceeded the allowable number of sessions, there is no action needed from you.
Your rebate will be automatically put into the bank account you registered with Medicare. You can check this on your myGov login.
Medicare can help you fund up to ten psychology sessions per calendar year.
If you want a Medicare bulk bill or rebate appointment, we need your Medicare number. We don’t need the physical card, but you will need to supply your Medicare card number. If you’ve lost your card or forgotten your number, you can jump onto MyGov to find your details.
All Medicare subsidised appointments require a referral and mental health treatment plan (MHTP).
A referral is a letter from your doctor to a specialist healthcare professional, like a psychologist, to outline the services you need. Your MHTP is a more detailed document with your personal information, an assessment and your goals for treatment. This is required for bulk-billed psychology sessions in Australia.
If you’d like to continue with your psychologist, our self-fund option is always a good option that will provide for maximum flexibility. Alternatively, you can wait for this to reset every calendar year & get 10 free sessions the next year.
If you have a Medicare bulk bill, NDIS, Workcover or DVA appointment, your card will only be charged if you cancel or do not turn up to your appointment, as per our cancellation policy.
If you have a fee-based appointment (Medicare rebate or self fund), your bank card will be charged two days prior to your appointment.
