Hi, I’m Jake

I am excited to meet you, get to know your story, and assist you in your journey in finding fulfillment and bringing you closer to the goals you hope to achieve in therapy. I am a generally registered psychologist with a philosophy that every person is unique and deserves a tailored therapeutic experience that aims to create sustainable and long lasting change. Due to my additional training in sport and exercise psychology, my approach to mental health involves a "mind and body" integration. Our mental health influences is strongly tied to how we feel, think, and our physical behaviours. I will help you explore how these factors fit together, aiming to identify unhelpful thoughts and behaviours, and ways forward with alternative options. My sessions will provide a non-judgmental and empathetic environment for open communication that will focus on self-development, finding meaning & value, improving confidence and achieving the goals that you have set.

Qualifications

Bachelor of science, Major in psychology (University of Melbourne) Graduate Diploma of Psychology advanced (Monash university) Masters of Psychology (ISN). Generally registered Psychologist. Currently completing registrar endorsement in Sport & Exercise Psychology.; Recent graduate from the Institute of Social Neuroscience in which I completed a Masters in Psychology. During this course I had a range of supervised clinical practice using evidence based approaches including CBT, ACT, mindfulness, and humanistic therapy to treat a wide range of conditions including depression, anxiety, OCD, perfectionism, chronic pain, and grief & bereavement. My additional sport and exercise psychology studies also means I have worked with people in improving health & lifestyle, performance, managing pain, improving sleep quality, dealing with burnout, improving confidence & self esteem, and improving general wellbeing in psychology associated activity and exercise. I have worked with a diverse range of cliental from different cultural backgrounds and ages (teens, adolescents, and adults).
