Hi, I’m Lauren

I am a kind and compassionate clinical psychologist seeking to assist my clients to be able to learn the skills to eventually become their own therapists. My hope for my clients is that through therapy, they will be able to rediscover their strengths, resilience and what makes them special. In doing so they will learn that they can handle whatever life throws at them with a renewed hope and sense of confidence in themselves. With almost a decade of experience in public health settings, I specialise in supporting clients dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma and various other life stressors. I strongly believe in using evidence-based, tried and tested therapies that have been proven to provide benefits and tailor these to the individual. I use a variety of different approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness practices, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing techniques and elements of Schema Therapy. Ultimately, I work with you to fit the therapy to your needs, rather than fitting you to the therapy. I work collaboratively with my clients starting with my belief that you are the expert in you, I am simply here to support, coach and empower you to focus on what you need to take control of your mental health. I seek to create space for you to feel heard, understood and safe in our work together. I look forward to speaking with you about how we may work together towards your mental health goals.

Qualifications

I am a registered psychologist with a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from Flinders University in Adelaide. I specialise in helping people to explore their thinking, behaviours and emotions to overcome challenges associated with clinical anxiety, depression, trauma and other stressors, as well as more longstanding difficulties with relationships and attachment. I like to work collaboratively with you, focussing on helping you understand the factors that have led you to where you are now, how these fit together and what we can do to improve the quality of your life in the ways that matter to you - whether this be your relationships with others, your self-worth or your sense of meaning and purpose in life. I provide empathic support and unconditional positive regard, creating a warm and safe space for you to focus on yourself and your life. I also realise how important it is to explore your current resources/supports and means of coping. Clients can feel more confident and hopeful when provided with practical tools and strategies specific to their concerns. With these new skills, you can move from feeling stuck to feeling empowered and better able to understand yourself and your experiences (thoughts, feelings and behaviours). I undertake regular training and development to ensure I am providing you with the best possible care and will happily work with you to link in with other support options/services when or as needed.
