Hi, I’m Melissa

Hi there, I am excited to be part of your journey of self-development and positive change. I believe that any worry we have is important, and that we should be able to feel valid and "okay" about wanting to make changes. Qualifications

Melissa completed a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology and English, as well an Honours degree in Psychology, at the University of South Africa. She then completed a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology at Rhodes University, in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. Whilst working in public healthcare she completed her PhD in Psychology with a focus on trauma and life-threatening illness. She is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). Melissa is trained several approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychoanalytic Therapy, and uses an eclectic approach.; Melissa has extensive experience in working with a variety of psychiatric difficulties, but has a particular interest in: adolescents (age 12 and above), working with teen conflicts including peer conflicts, relationships, exam stress and fitting in. PTSD and trauma, including illness, poor health, covid-related adjustment and loss, HIV and cancer LBGTQ conflicts including coming out Depression, bereavement and self-confidence issues Melissa has spent a year in a psychiatric hospital, 6 years in a public health hospital, and has over 10 years experience in private practice.
